Project Title: Connecting Youth with Character-building Extracurricular Activities
Project Description:
New Image Camps for Kids (N.I.C.K. Services), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, connects youth from underserved communities in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania with character-building extracurricular activities they might otherwise miss. Our mission is to help participants gain confidence, discover new interests, and explore nonacademic experiences. We accomplish this by providing supportive spaces where children feel seen and are empowered to build self-assurance, develop leadership skills, and reach their potential.
We partner with local businesses that offer existing community programs, including dance, gymnastics, martial arts, and music. We also provide in-house programs, such as coding and art instruction, at our learning center. Our coding class marks our first step toward expanding the academic offerings in our program lineup. N.I.C.K. Services completely covers class fees for program participants.
N.I.C.K. Services is an individualized solution that pairs aspiring learners with programs that match their unique interests. Our program is tailored to each child’s unique needs, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. We guide youth into thoughtfully chosen programs that welcome them, foster growth, and cultivate their individual talents.
Research compiled by the Afterschool Alliance endorses high-quality afterschool programs and highlights their positive effect on student performance. Studies show a positive correlation between afterschool programs and increased attendance, improved learning engagement, and gains in academic proficiency.
Since 2015, 100% of all money raised has directly supported the children of Lebanon County, thanks to our sponsors and donors. We hope that students in our program identify and pursue new passions.
We respectfully request $8,000 from the Hermanowski Family Foundation to continue providing worthy students with extracurricular activities and expand the programs we offer to these future leaders.
