Project Title: Underprivileged Youth Apprenticeship Initiative through Barbering For Tomorrow
Project Description:

The Underprivileged Youth Apprenticeship Initiative through Barbering For Tomorrow is a workforce development and mentorship program designed to support underprivileged youth ages 15 to 18 through structured apprenticeship exposure, life skills training, and positive mentorship within the barbering industry. The initiative connects licensed barbers and community mentors with youth who face barriers such as limited access to career opportunities, economic hardship, and lack of consistent adult guidance.
Barbering For Tomorrow is in the process of launching a Career and Technical Instruction (CTI) program in partnership with Nashua North and Nashua South High Schools. This collaboration will allow students to engage in structured, school aligned programming that introduces barbering as a viable career pathway while reinforcing professional skills, accountability, and goal setting. The CTI program will be integrated into existing school schedules and supported by both educators and industry mentors.
Participants will take part in weekly programming that includes hands on barbering skill exposure, professional etiquette, financial literacy, and mentorship focused on confidence building and long term planning. Youth will gain early exposure to workforce expectations and potential licensure pathways while learning in safe, supervised classroom and barbershop environments.
Grant funding will support the creation of classroom materials and instructional resources required for the CTI program, including equipment, supplies, curriculum development, and apprenticeship materials. Funds will also assist with mentor stipends, transportation support, program coordination, and background checks to ensure accessibility and program quality.
Through this initiative, Barbering For Tomorrow aims to empower underprivileged youth with tangible skills, meaningful mentorship, and exposure to sustainable career pathways that lead to long term personal and economic stability.
