Project Title: STEAM Program
Project Description:
Purpose Academy, a middle school serving underserved neighborhoods in Pompano Beach, Florida, operates under the 501(c)(3) umbrella of OneHope, Inc. Founded in 2018, the school provides a safe, nurturing, and academically rigorous environment where 140 students annually—over 90% from low-income families and more than 80% identifying as Hispanic, Black, or multiracial—can thrive.
The academy’s mission is to equip students with the academic foundation, creativity, and enrichment opportunities needed for success in high school and beyond. Its Afterschool STEAM Program integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math into hands-on, inquiry-based learning. Students engage in two 8-week sessions each year exploring all STEAM areas, with a particular focus on Technology and Arts—including coding, digital design, storytelling, and multimedia production. The program culminates in a community STEAM Fair, where students showcase projects that highlight creativity and problem-solving.
The need is urgent: students from low-income backgrounds are disproportionately underrepresented in advanced STEAM pathways by eighth grade, often due to limited access to quality enrichment programs. Purpose Academy addresses this gap through individualized instruction, small-group mentoring, and opportunities for creative exploration that build confidence and leadership.
The 2025–2026 program budget totals $72,820, with $37,820 already awarded through a Strikeforce Grant. Remaining funds will support laptops and tablets, digital art supplies, coding software, and professional development for staff—critical resources to sustain and grow the program.
Participation is open to all students regardless of faith. This investment will directly expand access to technology, enhance student engagement, and prepare underrepresented youth for success in future STEAM careers—turning curiosity into confidence and potential into purpose.
