Project Title: Pillars of PROGRESS
Project Description:

Zion Girls Leadership & Collegiate Preparatory Academy presents the 8 Pillars of PROGRESS, a 10-month trauma-informed mentorship and leadership development program designed to empower girls ages 13–17 who are disproportionately affected by parental incarceration and educational inequity. Rooted in faith and focused on purpose, this innovative initiative blends character development, academic support, and civic engagement within a supportive community.

The program operates from October through June, hosting two sessions per month. The curriculum is built around the 8 Pillars of PROGRESS: Perseverance, Reach Higher, Overcome Challenges, Growth & Evolve, Reflection on Self, Embrace Change, Stay Focused, and Strive for Success. Each pillar activates a set of dynamic experiences including group mentorship, scripture journaling, expressive arts, public speaking, and real-world application.

Key components include college exploration, healing-centered writing and art, civic engagement field trips, a financial investment workshop, and a culminating Fast Pitch Scholarship Gala where girls present their personal growth and leadership journey.

Our program provides a safe space, experience and dedicated mentors, access to cultural and educational enrichment, and tools for self-discovery, healing, and long-term success. Families are welcomed as partners through orientation and ongoing engagement, reinforcing the support structure at home.

The 8 Pillars of PROGRESS helps girls rewrite stigmatized narratives, achieve academic milestones, and step boldly into their purpose as leaders and changemakers. It equips them with resilience, voice, vision, and faith.

Hosted on the campus of Sacramento State University, the program not only affirms what’s possible—but makes it tangible, measurable, and transformational.
