Project Title: "Roots & Readers: A Juneteenth Celebration and Summer Literacy Garden"
Project Description:

At Inspires Me, we are launching Roots & Readers, a community-centered initiative that celebrates Juneteenth through a vibrant family festival and provides enriching summer reading opportunities for children aged 3 to 13. This two-part program will begin with a Juneteenth community festival held in the local park, offering storytelling sessions, cultural performances, arts and crafts, and family-friendly games that honor African American history and promote unity.

Following the festival, we will roll out our Summer Reading Program, distributing age-appropriate books and engaging children in guided reading sessions and literacy-based activities. This program will run for six weeks and will also incorporate the development of a Community Garden, where children can connect with nature, learn about sustainability, and document plant growth as part of their literacy journey.

The project fosters intergenerational learning, builds literacy skills, and encourages community pride. With grant support, we will be able to provide free books, reading supplies, snacks, garden materials, and staffing to make this experience accessible and impactful for families in our underserved community.
