Project Title: Paving a road to HOPE
Project Description:

Grace Place School, a nonprofit organization based in Broward County, Florida, is dedicated to helping free South Florida’s youth from the grip of sex trafficking and other destructive lifestyles. Since its founding in 2014, the school has offered life-changing opportunities to at-risk teens, empowering them to achieve their full potential. Grace Place is designed specifically for youth who have faced trauma, unstable home environments, poverty, and homelessness—factors that make them especially vulnerable to exploitation.

The urgency of the school’s mission is highlighted by Broward County’s ranking as the highest in the state for human trafficking. To address these challenges, Grace Place offers tuition free year-round academic support along with an annual 6-week Summer Job Readiness and Business Development program. This initiative provides students with practical training in job and life skills, as well as guidance on starting and managing a small business. The program benefits 35 students, aged 13-18, including those referred by juvenile judges, probation officers, and other agencies.

As part of the program, students can earn up to $600 in wage incentives while building critical soft skills such as time management, teamwork, leadership, and communication. They participate in classes and work in Grace Place’s social enterprise, Stylin with Grace, where they create and sell t-shirts. Through this hands-on experience, students gain valuable work experience and confidence, setting them on a path toward a brighter future. Grace Place School remains committed to helping at-risk youth overcome adversity and thrive in a safe, supportive environment. Each year, we serve over 45 students, achieving a 95% graduation rate. Our small class sizes and high teacher-to-student ratio enable us to provide the individualized attention and support that each student—and their often single-parent families—needs. It’s not uncommon for us to serve multiple siblings within the same family. We are seeking funds to cover essential program costs such as teachers, job coach, curriculum, meals, technology, and supplies.
