Project Title: New Victory Dance
Project Description:
Established in 1990, New 42 and our New Victory Theater have become recognized as a standard-bearer in providing world-class performances, essential education programs and creative arts engagement initiatives for kids and families across NYC. Our mission is to make the performing arts a vital part of everyone’s lives from the earliest years onward. Each summer, we present New Victory Dance – our annual summer dance showcase featuring the work of NYC-based dance artists and companies to highlight the richness and diversity of New York City’s dance community. Since its inception, New Victory Dance has presented 79 local dance artists to over 81,000 audience members.
In July and August of 2025, New Victory Dance will feature award-winning New York City dance companies like: Dorrance Dance, Evidence, Nai-Ni Chen, Max Pollak Group, Reggie Wilson, Thresh Inc, IMGE Dance, RudduR Dance, Sean Curran. Audiences will be able to experience a diverse range of dance styles including tap, contemporary, hip hop, Bharatanatyam, ballet, and more.
New Victory Dance will present 9 education shows as well as 3 public performances this summer, reaching up to 5,500 young people and their families. Each 75-minute program includes three dance pieces as well as talkbacks led by New Victory Teaching Artists, which give audiences the opportunity to reflect and discuss with their fellow audience members and learn choreography inspired by each piece.
Committed to eliminating barriers to participation in the arts, tickets to New Victory Dance’s public performances have costed audiences just $10 since the program first began. Free tickets are also available for families living in New York City Housing Authority developments and our 40+ New Victory Dance summer partners, which include afterschool programs and summer camps. All summer partners have access to pre-and-post show classroom workshops where students can create choreography and build creative community amongst their peers.
