Project Title: Pepin Academies
Project Description:
Pepin Academies-Pasco is a not-for-profit, Title 1, public charter school in Pasco County, Florida, serving students with learning disabilities since its opening in 2014. Pepin Academies-Pasco’s mission is to empower students with learning disabilities to maximize their potential in a positive therapeutic educational environment. Our students represent a diverse range of disabilities, cognitive levels, and cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
After chartering our school in Pasco County in 2014, Pepin Academies Pasco relocated to its “forever home” – a 14-acre campus in New Port Richey, Florida – in January 2021. The original flagpole on the site did not survive the construction and was destroyed by an excavator. We are seeking a grant to support the installation of a new flagpole, measuring 20’ to 25’, on our campus. The total cost of the pole, lighting, flags (national and state), installation, landscaping, and other related expenses is approximately $7,300.00. Our goal is to have the pole erected and celebrated during our annual Veterans Day Program in November, when we honor the Veterans associated with our school and the community. Should the Hermanowski Family Foundation decide to fund this project, a memorial plaque will be installed on the flagpole to acknowledge their support.
The flying of the American flag serves as a visible symbol of the freedom and justice we are afforded as citizens of America. While all our classrooms have American flags to which we pledge allegiance every morning, the installation of the flagpole on campus will stand as a monument to our commitment to freedom as a school. All students attending our school will benefit from the flag installation for years to come. As our facility is also used for community events, the broader community will also benefit from the visibility of the flag on campus.
