Project Title: Mental Health Counseling for Children, Youth, and their Families
Project Description:

Counseling services and programming are crucial in supporting children and youth and their families struggling in all areas of life. Many children and their families within Metro Atlanta are overlooked and go without counseling services of the mental health recovery system. TACC has highly trained counselors working directly with children, youth, and their families to address issues unique to them and place them on a track to healing. TACC helps clients become healthy, whole, and contributing members of the community, by helping individuals develop coping and life skills to get back on their feet and re-engaged with their lives. TACC’s affordable Mental Health Counseling program continues to make a huge impact by providing essential mental health services, as well as support and training to strengthen families who are low-income, uninsured/under-insured, and otherwise low-resourced. TACC partners with peer organizations in Atlanta as a vehicle to extend services deepening the impact throughout the city. TACC’s professionally trained/licensed counselors are a critical community resource, and services are trauma-informed. Clients and therapists work together to develop a specific and individualized course of treatment for each family. Our mental health services are available to anyone in need based on ability to pay. This is the core tenet of TACC’s mission. TACC eliminates cost barriers by providing therapeutic services on a sliding scale. As a part of this strategy, clients may access other complimenting services at TACC, including support groups and educational opportunities. These services are also available on a sliding-scale fee. TACC partners with the Atlanta Children’s Shelter, offering mental health services to both children and women, Nicholas House for families struggling with homelessness, and the Urban League for young people at risk and re-entering the community.
