Project Title: Recognizing Abilities and Inclusion of Special Employees (RAISE)
Project Description:

Recognizing Abilities and Inclusion of Special Employees (RAISE) is a work and social-skills training program dedicated to empowering young adults with disabilities by building confidence, fostering independence, and teaching essential employability skills.

This collaborative program provides paid, part-time employment and 1:1 volunteer job coaching for 9 months through strategic partnerships with 18 businesses across Central Florida. Using a copyrighted curriculum, social skills for competitive employment are modeled, coached, and reinforced throughout the program.

In addition to hands-on training, RAISE provides education and resources to ensure participants and their families are equipped for success and provides support to transition to competitive employment. Our approach not only benefits individuals with disabilities, but also promotes inclusive workplaces and stronger communities.

In FY 2026, RAISE anticipates serving 16 young adults with disabilities; approximately 30% of RAISE participants are ages 18-21. Funding from The Charles and Joan Hermanowski Foundation would help RAISE expand to provide employment opportunities to more young adults.

RAISE offers each participant the self-worth that comes from earning a paycheck, the satisfaction of being a participating member of society, an accepting work environment, the self-respect that comes with productivity, the dignity of having a job, a feeling of contribution, and the benefit of interfacing with our community in a safe and compassionate setting. We strive to give them the tools they need to reach their full potential, and look forward to the opportunity to partner with The Charles and Joan Hermanowski Foundation.

Total Project Budget: 216197

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): RAISE receives support from Vocational Rehabilitation Services, wage reimbursement for On-the-Job Training (OJT), as well as private philanthropy.
