Project Title: Scholarship Support for the Annual International Conference and Festival
Project Description:

IABD requests support for youth dancers to receive scholarships to its annual conference and festival. Scholarship support alleviates any financial barriers that dancers may have by covering conference and festival registration and accommodations. This support method ensures that promising dancers will be able to take advantage of networking opportunities while expanding their technique and artistry.

IABD’s Annual International Conference and Festival of Blacks in Dance is the largest international gathering of Black Dance artists, students, and professionals featuring performance presentations, dance classes, panels and roundtable discussions, workshops, plenary sessions, an awards presentation, auditions, and more. The 36th Annual International Conference and Festival of Blacks in Dance, “From Soul to Sole: The Black Dance Family Reunion” will take place in Atlanta, GA, February 4-8, 2026, in partnership with Atlanta Dance Connection, Axam Dance Theatre, Ballethnic Dance Company, Dance Canvas, and Juel D Lane. The festival promotes cultural preservation, professional growth, scholarly discourse, and artistic excellence within the community of artists invested in the Black dance diaspora.

While participating in the conference and festival, dance artists are able to take advantage of:

IABD Auditions: Scholarship and multi-company auditions provide aspiring dancers access to summer intensives, collegiate dance programs, and top U.S. professional dance companies in ballet, modern, and contemporary dance. These auditions create direct pathways for career advancement and financial support for dancers pursuing higher education.

on the 1, a Dance Class Series: Dancers receive technical and artistic development opportunities and training from world-renowned dance faculty to enhance their skills and professional readiness. Class genres include, but are not limited to Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Dunham, Horton, Graham, and West African, and are taught by professionals who work in various aspects of the industry.
