Project Title: Neighborhood Strings
Project Description:

Neighborhood Strings is a collaboration between the Worcester Public Schools (Woodland Academy; Clark Street School), The Seven Hills Charter Public School, Clark University, and the Worcester Chamber Music Society, Neighborhood Strings seeks to transform the lives of urban youth through music. Neighborhood Strings provides low-cost rental instruments, after-school music lessons and ensembles in string instruments, intensive mentorship by Worcester Chamber Music Society teaching artists, field trips to concerts, and local performing opportunities to 75 youth (ages 6-17) from the Main South and Downtown neighborhoods during the school year. Neighborhood Strings provides instruction and instruments for at-risk urban school children in Worcester, MA for little-to-no charge throughout the school year. We waive the fee for students that are unable to pay the nominal fee.
