Project Title: Project Pajamas and Books: Bringing Comfort & Literacy to Vulnerable Children
Project Description:

Since 2013, Project Pajamas and Books has been a community-driven initiative aimed at providing over 67,000 vulnerable children with the comfort of new pajamas and the joy of reading through the gift of books. The project seeks to address the dual needs of comfort and literacy for children facing difficult circumstances, such as those in foster care, homeless shelters, and low-income households.

Through donations from generous individuals, local businesses, and corporate sponsors, Project Pajamas and Books distributes brand-new pajamas and age-appropriate books to children in need. Pajamas provide physical comfort, offering children a sense of security and warmth, while books help foster imagination, education, and a love of reading—tools that empower children to break free from cycles of hardship.

This project not only supports emotional well-being but also promotes early literacy by ensuring that every child has access to books that nurture curiosity, creativity, and learning. Our mission is to bring smiles to children’s faces while helping to lay the foundation for their future academic success and overall well-being.

We work closely with schools, shelters, and local child welfare organizations to identify children who would benefit most from these gifts. The project aims to make a lasting impact by offering both immediate comfort and long-term educational benefits to the most vulnerable members of our community.

By providing these simple yet powerful gifts, Project Pajamas and Books hopes to inspire a sense of hope, dignity, and belonging in every child it touches. Your generous donation would provide at least 250 children in need with a pair of pajamas and book to call their own.

Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Angel Heart’s committed funding sources for the project include donations from individuals, corporate sponsorships from retail companies and bookstores, grants from corporations and foundations, contributions from small business owners and civic organizations, and support from Native American tribes and nations. Potential funding sources include outreach to individual donors, partnerships with socially responsible companies, collaborations with libraries to host book drives, grants from literary and educational organizations, and pajama and book drives hosted by the local community.

Project Duration: Year-Round – Angel Heart Pajama Project continuously collects and distributes pajamas and books to children in need.
Geographical Area Served: Angel Heart serves children living in Tucson, AZ and across the counties of Cochise, Pima, Pinal, Santa Cruz, and Yuma in Southern Arizona.
Age Group To Be Served: Angel Heart serves children from infancy to age 18 who are in the foster care system, living in homeless or domestic violence shelters, and from low-income families struggling to meet basic needs.
