Project Title: Improving Access to Medical Care for Low-income Communities
Project Description:

The Muslim Community Resource Center (MCRC) – the social and humanitarian arm of the Muslim Association of Puget Sound (MAPS) – is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that improves access to medical care for low-income families and people living homeless in King County, WA. MCRC specifically supports low-income BIPOC communities, particularly immigrants, refugees, and asylum-seeking communities, who may be reluctant to seek care in a conventional care setting due to concerns about their immigration status.

MCRC’s clinic is directed by a physician who is affiliated with University of Washington, and MCRC’s clinic is a member of the Washington Healthcare Alliance. We serve all community members in need, regardless of ability to pay, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or any other demographic characteristic. Our clients are predominately female (70%), BIPOC (80%), immigrants or refugees (90%) and low-income (100%). Funding support will enable MCRC to support up to 40 clients including medical exams, diagnostic tests, and treatments.
