Project Title: Pet Therapy for Children and Youth
Project Description:

Imagine the joy of a wagging tail and the comfort of a paw on your lap after a tough day. A therapy dog can be a lifeline—offering companionship and a sense of peace, hope, and healing. We believe every child deserves the unconditional love and support these special animals provide, and we would love your help to continue to make that possible.

Pet therapy sessions will be provided to children and youth at places such as Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, SOS Children’s Village, Quantum House, Family First Adolescent Services, Riverglades Elementary School, Children’s Bereavement Center, Children’s Diagnostic and Treatment Center, Boys and Girls Club, Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital and many others! In addition, therapy dogs will also remain on call to be deployed after local traumatic incidents through our Mental Health and Trauma Response program.

The cost to maintain one pet therapy team (handler + dog) in the field for one year is approximately $3,140. Each therapy dog can help between 500 – 700 individuals a year. Funding support from your Foundation of $9,420 would sustain the operation of 3 therapy dogs for one year and directly impact over 1,500 individuals.

The Foundation will receive the names and photos of your 3 dogs, updates on visits, stories of impact, and how many individuals they helped and where.

Helping pediatric patients through chemotherapy or procedures will provide comfort, cheer, and a welcome distraction. Dogs will also work in schools to help struggling readers, one-on-one or in small groups.
By actively engaging with the dogs, children learn the intrinsic value dogs bring to humans and the importance of empathy, respect, and responsibility. This initiative has the potential to create lasting positive impacts on students, animals and the community!
