Project Title: PAVE (Providing Access to Vaccinations for Everyone) Immunization
Project Description:
Nova ScriptsCentral’s (NSC) PAVE Immunization program offers free immunizations and other clinical services to help children access affordable healthcare necessary for school entry. As most children served within the program are without insurance or are Medicaid beneficiaries, the services provided are crucial in helping these underserved patients access the healthcare required by the school district. NSC serves 220 students annually and has provided over 2,500 immunizations to more than 1,200 students since 2016. The organization has directly supported communities in Fairfax County and, with additional funding, is committed to expanding its efforts to assist larger populations within the community. Currently, in Prince William County, local schools have sought NSC’s assistance in providing immunizations for adolescents within the region, particularly refugee children from Afghanistan who are in desperate need of affordable healthcare services. Many children cannot obtain proper education through the school system without access to this care. NSC is committed to ensuring no child is excluded from their right to education due to improper healthcare accessibility. In collaboration with the local health system, local nurses will provide physical assessments while NSC will oversee the immunization process for patients. A multilingual team is in place to provide culturally competent healthcare services, ensuring a safe space for clients to receive care and helping to dismantle logistical barriers that could affect healthcare needs. However, further funding is required to ensure the proper utilization of staff support is supplied to the clinics for immunization provision. Additionally, NSC will continue its giveaways for the students receiving immunizations, as the gifts have proven to increase comfort and ease the minds of many children receiving upwards of eight vaccines within a clinic visit. As receiving immunizations can be stressful for many children, NSC ensures all patients receive compassionate, patient-centered care and feel secure while receiving immunization services.
Total Project Budget: $69,725
