Project Title: Boys Town South Florida Continuum of Care Services
Project Description:

Boys Town South Florida respectfully requests support from the Charles and Joan Hermanowski Foundation to support prevention services for struggling children and families in South Florida through our Continuum of Care services. Annually, our programs serve more than 3,000 members of our community through Care Coordination Services, In-Home Family Services, Common Sense Parenting, Lift with Boys Town, and the Behavioral Health Clinic.

Based on the research-proven Boys Town Model, our services provide resources and guidance that help individuals attain stability, enhance strengths, and work toward independently addressing needs. By equipping families with knowledge, skills, and supports, we prevent youth truancy, delinquency, substance abuse, mental health issues, and family separation.

Research shows that trauma-informed services, like our programs, can alleviate the negative effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and improve long-term outcomes. We measure our program impact in four key areas:

1) Well-Being: Youth is in school or has graduated; has not been in trouble with the law; is drug-free; has basic needs met; youth and/or family know how to find support, services, and resources; and have positive family relationships.

2) Permanency: Youth is living with family and is placement-free (has not been referred to another out-of-home placement).

3) Safety: Youth is abuse-free.

4) Satisfaction: Boys Town has had a positive impact in their life.

To assess program effectiveness, staff compare key indicators of well-being from clients’ pre- and post-assessments, identifying growth, progress, and need for additional interventions. Evidence suggests that through our approach, children and families truly become safer, healthier and happier. 90% of families report satisfaction with services, meaning they received the help they need and their lives improved through our programs.

With the Foundation’s support, these services will continue to meet our shared goal of promoting the success and full potential of each child or family we serve.
