Project Title: Empowering Futures for Success: Aim High’s Expanding Learning & Career Exploration for Middle Schoolers
Project Description:
Aim High is a free, five-week summer program designed to support rising 6th-9th grade students in Northern California. Our mission is to inspire a love of learning, strengthen academic and social-emotional skills, and empower students with a clear path to high school, college, and career success. By fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment, Aim High ensures students develop confidence, resilience, and the tools needed for lifelong achievement.
The program’s curriculum consists of three core classes:
Humanities – Enhancing literacy, critical thinking, and discussion skills by exploring contemporary issues.
Issues & Choices – Helping students examine identity, community, and well-being while setting college and career goals.
STEM Challenge – Encouraging problem-solving through hands-on projects that incorporate design thinking, scientific inquiry, and mathematical reasoning.
Aim High incorporates project-based learning, where students engage in real-world challenges like addressing climate change and designing sustainable solutions. Additionally, social-emotional learning (SEL) is embedded throughout the program, aligned with the CASEL framework to develop self-awareness, relationship-building, and responsible decision-making.
Beyond academics, students participate in enrichment activities such as arts, cultural studies, and sports, including hiking, swimming, film club, and team sports. College and career exploration is another key component, with students visiting university campuses and connecting with mentors to envision their future.
Aim High estimates that during the summer of 2026, they will serve 252 students across two summer site locations in Placer and Napa counties. Your generous support would be split between both sites.
A diverse teaching staff, including Aim High alumni, delivers the program. With a 98% high school graduation and college enrollment rate, Aim High continues to impact students, families, and communities.
