Project Title: Truckload of Trikes
Project Description:

The McLindon Family Foundation is committed to enhancing the lives of children with special needs by providing adaptive bikes year-round. Since our inception in 2008, we have successfully delivered 665 adaptive bikes to children facing various disabilities, including spina bifida, cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus, Down syndrome, autism, traumatic brain injury, and genetic disorders. These specially designed bikes offer a safe and enjoyable riding experience for children who are unable to ride traditional two-wheel bicycles.

The process of selecting the right bike begins with collaboration between our team and each child’s physical therapist. This partnership ensures that we order a bike tailored to the child’s specific needs and abilities, enabling them to experience the joy of cycling. Riding an adaptive bike not only provides a recreational outlet for these children but also promotes physical activity, which is essential for their overall health and development.

To enhance our impact while effectively managing our budget, we have negotiated a significant discount with our adaptive bike manufacturer. By ordering 40 bikes at a time, we are able to slash waitlists dramatically and expedite the delivery of bikes to children’s homes. This timely access is particularly crucial for children with regressive disorders, as they require consistent, low-impact physical activity to maintain or improve their strength and mobility.

We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and experience the freedom that comes with riding a bike. Our mission at the McLindon Family Foundation is to ensure that as many children as possible can participate in this enriching activity. By advocating for children with special needs and providing them with adaptive bikes, we take significant strides toward creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for all. Your support can help us continue this vital work and make a lasting difference in the lives of these children and their families.
