Project Description:
This request is for fundig of 1812ada’s program, Getting Ready for College and Life for the Urban Youth Impact’s Reframe Proram led by Antwon Harris. The Leadersip Academy serves inner city youth living in the boundaies, South of 45th Street, North of 3rd Street and eastern boundary of Broadway amd Western boundary of Lake Magnonia.
Urban Youth Impact has identified 20 high school students who will be offered ths 15 week, online program which will be taught in the classroom but online access is available that will compliment their program"s outreach.
The Program:
Getting Ready for College and Life is dynamic. It contains videos and animation and is a program that ultimately supports youth in academics and in life.
Our proprietary integration of digital text, into Moodle platform was created specifically for High School students with an industry leader in teaching students with Learning & Attention Issues. The program utilizes a pre and post assessment that identifies the progress of a students skill sets using a detailed questionnaire creating a formula for success. Students identify their strenghts and weaknesses and are taught strategies to improve those areas that need improvemnt. Concepts are learned and locked in through Self-Reflective journaling that results in conscionable and positive effects on behavior to secure a successful transition into college and or workplace.
• Learn the culture of higher education and the 8 key expectations of college, universities, and the workplace.
• Identify your individual learning styles and effective learning strategies
• Each student is provided a Toolbox for Active Learning ie. Taking Notes, Study Skills, Time Management techniques
• Employing interdependence skills (knowing when and how to ask for help)
• Discovering self-motivation and self-awareness
• Learn how to accept responsibility and build your self- confidence
outcomes:4 outof 5 students improved skills and led to improved grades.
