Project Title: Support for Abused, Neglected & Homeless Youth
Project Description:

Youth Haven seeks funding to expand its trauma-informed, holistic mental health services for abused, neglected, and homeless children and teens, ages 6 to 21, ensuring they have the necessary tools to heal, grow, and achieve their full potential. As the only emergency and residential shelter for foster youth in Southwest Florida, and the only shelter in Collier County specifically for homeless teens, Youth Haven provides a safe, structured, and healing-focused therapeutic campus where children and teens can begin their journey toward a brighter, better future.

Our trauma-informed care model integrates therapeutic services, educational support, life skills training, and mentorship to meet the complex needs of our residents. Our licensed therapist uses comprehensive assessments to measure each resident’s daily functioning, emotional well-being, self-sufficiency, and academic progress. Our expertise in trauma-informed care is reinforced by Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) assessments, which highlight the severe trauma faced by our youth: clients average 7.2 out of 10 ACEs. Without intervention, these youth are at high risk for long-term instability, health challenges, and limited opportunities.

With beds for up to 74 youth at a given time on our 18.5-acre therapeutic campus, and supporting an average of 150 unduplicated clients annually, Youth Haven provides around-the-clock specialized care in a home-like environment, counseling to begin their healing process, educational support, and a robust enrichment program.

Through individualized treatment plans, life skills classes, and mentorship, we help youth develop resilience, build healthy relationships, and acquire the tools needed for long-term success. By enhancing therapeutic care and expanding mental health services, we aim to break the cycle of trauma and empower youth, ensuring that vulnerable youth not only heal from their past experiences but also have the opportunity to realize a stable and hopeful future.
