Project Title: Children’s Village at Lotus Village
Project Description:

Lotus House serves over 525 women, youth, and children experiencing homelessness every night (over 1300 annually) offering sanctuary, support, education, tools, and resources to help them heal, grow, thrive, and build brighter futures for themselves and their families. Lotus House upholds a Children First principle, understanding that breaking the cycles of homelessness, poverty, and abuse begins with our children.

Our newest project, Children’s Village at Lotus Village, is a model children’s neighborhood resource center. Set to open in just a few short months, directly across the street from Lotus House, Children’s Village will provide a safe, welcoming, trauma-informed, and inclusive environment for all.

This 75,000+ square foot, 5-story, state-of-the-art facility fosters unprecedented collaboration among more than 10 nonprofit organizations, collectively supporting an estimated 2,000-2,500 children annually from both Lotus House and the broader Overtown community. Children’s Village will serve as a central hub, offering:

● Evidence-based, trauma-informed therapies to support healing for children and families.
● Legal services to help families secure essential support and resources.
● Barrier-free access to basic healthcare, including immunizations and back-to-school checkups.
● Diverse enrichment, social, and civic programs for children and youth of all ages.
● After-school activities, tutoring, homework assistance, and academic support.
● A wide range of summer camp programs for students of all ages.
● A world-class preschool specializing in supporting children with special needs.
● Visual arts, digital media, and educational training.
● Mindfulness training for parents, educators, and caregivers.
● An accessible playground for children of all abilities to play in a safe, engaging environment.
● Community events, such as back-to-school drives, communal Thanksgiving dinners, and more.
