Project Title: Resource 180
Project Description:
Resource 180 is a comprehensive support initiative designed to remove barriers to academic success for children in Title 1 schools by addressing food insecurity, lack of essential supplies, and other socioeconomic challenges. The project provides students with nutritious food, school supplies, hygiene products, and clothing, ensuring they have the fundamental resources needed to thrive in school and beyond.
Through partnerships with organizations like Village Green RVA, Feed More, and Communities in Schools, Resource 180 delivers weekend food bags, emergency food support, and stocked school pantries to combat hunger and improve student focus. Additionally, the program distributes books and literacy materials to encourage reading engagement and academic growth.
Beyond direct student support, Resource 180 strengthens family stability by offering emergency assistance, referrals to community resources, and advocacy efforts to connect families with long-term solutions. By working alongside school social workers, family advocates, and community organizations, we create a network of care that extends beyond the classroom.
The program also promotes equity and inclusion, serving a diverse student population, including English language learners and children from various cultural backgrounds. By providing culturally relevant books and resources, we ensure all students feel valued and empowered in their learning journey.
By addressing both immediate and long-term needs, Resource 180 creates lasting change, ensuring that children can focus on learning rather than struggling with hunger or lack of basic necessities.
