Project Title: Tuition Assistance for Low Income Families
Project Description:

Westside Christian Academy (WCA) is a private classical Christian school located in Westlake, Ohio. Although we are known for our rigorous academics, our focus extends beyond academics alone. At WCA, students are seen as unique individuals who have the opportunity to grow in their moral development and learn to know and love God, as well as all that is true, beautiful, and good..
Our community has experienced significant growth, increasing from 130 students in 2015-2016 to 370 students in fall of 2024, with a projected enrollment of nearly 450 by 2028. As our numbers grow, we desire that our school continues to be financially accessible to families who desire to enroll. About twenty percent of our population qualifies for low income status, which is defined as a family income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. Although Ohio’s EdChoice program covers tuition in part, it does not fully cover tuition costs and per state guidelines low-income families cannot be charged with the difference. For the 2023-2024 school year, the total “gap” between the EdChoice monies and the actual tuition costs was $217,388. We are seeking to raise funds to help bridge this gap. This year, our goal is to raise $50,000 in grants.
We would like to ask if you would consider a grant of $10,000 for tuition assistance for low-income families? We believe a classical Christian education would greatly benefit these students and position them well for success. In a 2019 comparative study of six school types conducted by the University of Notre Dame, it was the classical school graduates that achieved substantially higher scores in all life outcome measures.
