Project Title: Camp Corral Summer Camp
Project Description:

“Where a kid can be a kid” One of the simplest mantras, it is oftentimes one of the most difficult to achieve. This is the ultimate goal of Camp Corral. With a mission to give children of wounded, ill and fallen military heroes an incredible opportunity to just be a kid, Camp Corral has succeeded in transforming the lives of over 33,000 military children since 2011.

Military life can be difficult and challenging, especially for these young warriors who face their own internal struggles – feelings of disconnectedness, isolation and heartbreak. While there are certainly positive attributes to military life, these feelings are frequently coupled with transfers, parent(s) disabilities, loneliness and sometimes death. Camp Corral is designed specifically to empower America’s military children and positively impact their mental wellness.

With over 45% of veteran families reporting a lack of access to services in their communities which address these struggles, Camp Corral seeks to bridge that gap. Through highly trained staff, we enable children to take pride in their accomplishments. With traditional and evidence-based recreational and educational activities, Camp Corral is designed to provide respite for military-connected children. Six years of validated research details Camp Corral’s continued impact in a camper’s self-confidence, resiliency/coping skills, respite and connectivity to others. More than 85% of Camp Corral campers make new friends with more than 65% saying they fell truly understood by those around them.

Through week-long, residential camps to experience new adventures, Camp Corral brings these young heroes together. With 21 accredited host camps in 18 states, Camp Corral and our highly-trained staff give children the opportunity to build meaningful, lasting friendships, develop coping skills, make connections, and grow their self-confidence and resiliency. The summer of 2024 brought joy and togetherness to 2,700 campers.
