Tacoma United Association’s Youth Development & Mentorship Program empowers underserved youth through sports, academics, and mentorship. Our program fosters resilience, leadership, and success by providing structured opportunities for personal growth.
Needs Addressed:
Many youth in our community face financial hardship, lack of extracurricular programs, and limited mentorship. Academic struggles and the absence of role models hinder their success. Our program bridges these gaps by integrating athletics, education, and mentorship.
Activities:
Sports-Based Youth Development – Basketball training, team competition, and life skills development through athletics.
Academic Support – Tutoring, study sessions, college readiness workshops, and STEM/literacy enrichment.
Mentorship & Life Skills – One-on-one mentoring, career exploration, leadership training, and job shadowing.
Objectives & Outcomes:
Increase participation by 20%.
Improve academic performance for 75% of participants.
Enhance leadership skills, with 80% reporting greater confidence.
Strengthen post-secondary readiness, ensuring 70% graduate with a clear path to college or employment.
History of Impact:
Tacoma United Association has successfully served hundreds of youth, improving academic success, increasing graduation rates, and fostering strong mentor relationships. Many participants have pursued college and professional careers.
