Project Title: Youth Literacy and Multilingual Literacy Program Support
Project Description:

Casey & Charley’s Foundation for Dogs and Kids is a private nonprofit organization. Lectura Lounge, the foundation’s first operational project, is a vibrant community reading space for youth of all ages in the heart of Park City. The purpose of the Lounge is to provide an open space that nurtures a sense of belonging and a love of literacy for all its visitors, including English as a Second Language (ESL), multilingual, and Dual Language Immersion (DLI) students in Park City to participate in a variety of extracurricular bi-literacy programs that enhance their language proficiency and lead to greater academic success and opportunity. These programs aim to provide inclusive support for multilingualism and overall literacy by engaging a cross-demographic audience in Park City and its neighboring communities while strengthening cross-cultural ties through reading, writing, and conversational activities.

If awarded, these funds will support the expenses (i.e., staff time, food, books, games, and supplies) of our core programs, including Reading Buddies, ¡Divertimos!, Witty Writers, and Games & Grub. Casey and Charley’s Foundation is committed to covering the administrative expenses of Lectura Lounge, but relies on grants and funding partners to cover a portion of the program expenses.
