Project Title: Real Life University Mentoring Program
Project Description:
The Real Life University mentoring program is designed to bridge the gap of services and resources for adolescents aged 16-26 who have aged out or are aging out of the foster care system. The program provides coaching, support, healthy collaborative circles, advocacy, and resource-sharing services. Flexible spaces will be secured for conferences, workshops, and seminars. Lotus Village United remains agile by staying current on issues past and present to indicate when pivots in direction are required. The organization proactively serves the community through its powerful connections and partnerships with local schools, teen group homes, community leaders, and community agencies whose missions and goals complement and encourage alignment with creating sustainable living for those in need. Lotus Village United believes they can eradicate the adverse outcomes endured by many individuals aging out of the foster care system, one support and opportunity at a time.
The Real Life University mentoring program participants will navigate the program courses using their case plan and goals as the road map to independence and self-sufficiency. Lotus Village United’s mission is to support and guide opportunity youth aging out or aged out of foster care ages 16-26 by providing and advocating for human resources in environments where they can thrive. Support is offered to create thought-provoking experiences to encourage insightful decision-making processes and future planning skills for at-risk youth. The stability provided by Lotus Village United empowers young people to build positive relationships, contribute to their communities, pursue their dreams, and pave the way for successful and independent living for years to come. The supportive services are individually tailored to identify and capitalize on each participant’s strengths and encourage development in areas of weakness as they progress toward self-sufficiency and stability.
