Project Title: IMARA
Project Description:

IMARA, established in 2024, is dedicated to catalyzing restorative practices and transformative change within education, particularly for marginalized youth. Collaborating closely with key partners like Akoben and Transforming Lives, IMARA seeks to advance equity and justice in educational settings nationwide. By providing restorative practices through professional development programs and high-quality educational services, IMARA aims to address systemic injustices, such as unequal access to opportunities and disparities in academic achievement, faced by marginalized youth.

The project’s multifaceted approach involves delivering comprehensive training and resources to educators and professionals, implementing restorative practices in educational settings, and providing tailored education programs to meet the unique needs of marginalized youth. Additionally, IMARA engages in advocacy efforts to promote policy changes and systemic reforms that prioritize equity and inclusion in the education system.

Anticipated outcomes include a reduction in recidivism rates, improved academic achievement, and the fostering of resilience and empowerment among marginalized youth. By advocating for restorative practices and equitable access to education, IMARA seeks to create lasting impact and drive positive change in the lives of marginalized youth and their communities.

IMARA is seeking funding for program implementation and organizational development, with the total project cost yet to be determined. The mission and work of IMARA closely align with the Hermanowski Foundation’s commitment to empowering marginalized populations and creating positive social change. Through their shared dedication to equity, inclusion, and empowerment, both organizations work towards building a more just, equitable, and compassionate society for all individuals, particularly those facing systemic barriers to success.
