Project Title: Teacher-Leader Institute
Project Description:

Through its flagship program, The Teacher Leader Institute (TLI), AATF provides monthly programming to meet the needs of aspiring and current teachers, ranging from pedagogical coaching to mental health services through local partnerships. The organization understands that teachers often face unique challenges and stressors serving students in the community. Therefore, providing holistic support that acknowledges and addresses these challenges is essential for their well-being and long-term sustainability in the profession. While necessary and a core part of our programming, professional development isn’t the sole solution to support educators. In addition to professional development, our organization provides mentoring, cohort-based community building, and access to mental health support through partnerships with community organizations. We also lead a focus on the development and reinforcement of 21st Century Skills. All of these skills are embedded throughout our workshops and sessions for participating educators. These skills include: communication, collaboration, creativity, technology, flexibility, professionalism, and productivity.

On a community level, the impact of this work is profound. Educators play a critical role in shaping the perspectives, skills, and futures of young people. By increasing the presence of educators, who often serve as role models, we’re contributing to a more inclusive and equitable learning environment. This can have lasting effects on students’ academic achievements and self-esteem thereby fostering a more vibrant and cohesive community.
