Project Title: The Path Line – Bridging Gaps for Children and Youth in Foster Care.
Project Description:

Our mission is to give Middle Tennessee youths in foster care a new path—with a place to call home and a chance to dream. Jonathan’s Path fills a huge void of consistency teens face in foster care including, housing, support, direction and love. No paths are the same, but the love, stability, and support from Jonathan’s Path will be constant for every youth.

Our new Path Line project is the only help line for teens in foster care in Middle Tennessee. The existing nonprofit ecosystem includes help lines for foster parents and adults; however, this approach does not include the voices of youth, resulting in further neglect and hindering them from reaching their potential as independent adults.

The Path Line provides a voice for teens in foster care. Teens ages 13 and older contact us for support or to request needed services, and someone from The Path Line responds within 24 hours! We serve teens experiencing immediate needs and those requesting long term services including mental health care, career counseling, independent living preparation, education, and more. Youth may request immediate or specialized therapeutic services, career mentoring, sports fees or equipment assistance, tutoring, ACT/SAT/GED prep, etc. Others may reach out to us for emergency housing. This occurs most frequently when a teen has aged out of the foster system and does not meet the qualifications for extension of foster care, EFC, in which case they are left to navigate the complexities of adult life without the care of a family or support network.

The Path Line directly supports the Charles and Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation’s mission to empower children and young adults, specifically those in foster care, by equipping them to succeed and fulfill their potential in a system historically neglectful of their needs.
