Project Title: Youth WORK Internship
Project Description:

Funding from The Charles and Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation will support hiring four youth interns at $2,437.50 each. The additional $250 will be used to support any interns who need assistance with transportation to their internship.

Youth WORK engages youth ages 16-21 in an eight-week program to develop their leadership and professional skills. Our program provides youth with experiential learning in a professional environment and encourage career exploration. Youth WORK sessions include (1) Knowing Yourself, (2) Strategies to Reach Your Goal, (3) Conducting the Job Search, (4) Resume Building, (5) The Winning Interview, (6) Financial Literacy, (7) Successful Interview, Now What?, and (8) Interviews. Upon completion of the program, youth are linked to a job placement organization to secure employment.

Upon completion of the program, they will be hired to work at a local nonprofits for 10 weeks at 12 hours a week. During their internship, youth gain experience working in a professional environment, have an opportunity for career exploration, are supported through economic development, and learn responsibility, time management, and interpersonal skills.
