Project Description:

Our services are critical for our community. Baltimore, Maryland area residents are negatively affected by socioeconomic issues, including poverty, high unemployment and underemployment, low sense of community, and low educational attainment. These factors can be crippling and negatively impact the community as a whole. Thus, making Baltimore area residents more susceptible to adverse behaviors and experiences. Several individuals drop out of school, discontinue academic pursuits; and even become homeless and/or involved in criminal activity. This climate calls for a paradigm shift in what is being taught and modeled and what support systems are available to individuals. STANDC takes the initiative to lead these residents, one at a time and in cohort groups, to become responsible, self-sufficient and productive citizens.
