Project Title: CHS All In
Project Description:

Coastal Heritage Society (CHS) operates six museums in Savannah, Ga., each providing unique immersive learning experiences. We serve over 150,000 annual visitors, primarily local children and families, and guests from around the world. In 2023, we developed our CHS All In initiative to eliminate economic barriers to the education we deliver.

According to the U. S. Census Bureau’s most recent data report, 20.5% of Savannahians live below the poverty threshold, with nearly 30% under the age of 18. There is a vital need for free educational experiences in Savannah, and we recognize that admission fees to our engaging museums may be a hindrance. To provide equitable access, our CHS All In initiative removes costs for our museum visitors who receive SNAP/EBT/WIC benefits, students in Savannah-Chatham County Title I schools, and direct outreach in communities most vulnerable to poverty. Through CHS All In, we help children build essential 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, cooperation, and citizenship. The initiative also engages parents and caregivers to help reinforce a lifelong interest in learning. These transformational experiences help build a pipeline for our community’s future workforce and leadership, and this initiative ensures that diverse perspectives and backgrounds are included in those roles.

Your support for CHS All In will enable us to serve at least 1,000 children experiencing poverty through free repeat museum admission, field trips, and outreach in their communities.
