Project Title: Buggie Project
Project Description:
TFBB seeks funds to replace our original Buggie, a personal minivan. This Buggie will be used full time year-round for book donation pickup, book deliveries and school and community events.
The Buggie is an integral part of TFBB program. Our program was created using a vehicle to travel to communities where children live and learn, giving them easy access and choice in books.
Reading is a crucial part of childhood. Recognizing that not all children are privileged enough to have access to books. By developing creative partnerships with schools, cities, nonprofits, social services organizations and many others, The Free Book Buggie can reach these children throughout the Twin Cities where childhood poverty rates are higher than both state and national averages. We continue to discover new partnership opportunities that facilitate our reach and ensure that the books we share are going to the children who need them the most.
TFBB accepts preloved and new books from a variety of resources with many that may otherwise be recycled or simply thrown away.
Community collaboration is key to our work. Currently we are working in partnership with over 300 organizations that facilitate our reach into diverse communities. These organizations include schools, police departments, Park & Recreation departments, food distribution services, mentoring programs, and county social service programs, just to name a few.
Our unique program is focused on removing transportation and financial challenges that many of our families face. We do this by bringing books directly to children in the communities where they live and learn and give them away thereby removing the transportation and cost barriers that make it difficult for many children to own books.
Choice and Access to books – the 2 most important ways we can help our future generations.
