Project Title: Colorado Springs Conservatory Performing Arts Programming
Project Description:
For 30 years now, CSC has offered foundational and life-changing arts immersion programs in instrumental music, vocal performance, musical theatre, drama, recording arts, composition, and music theory to students ages 6 months to 21 years old. CSC provides a much-needed curriculum for those students who are seeking after school programs, and for the public-school leaders who have become adamant that the arts remain an important part of every child’s education.
CSC’s Principal Program provides performing arts education with a comprehensive curriculum in music and theater that builds from Early Childhood (0-7) to Exploratory (8-10) to Foundational (11-13) to Preparatory (14-18). CSC’s programming is unique in the region for its combination of education and performance opportunities. All students in the program experience excellent education in their chosen discipline and are able to practically apply what they are learning through CSC’s robust performance calendar. The program is designed pedagogically to meet each student where they are developmentally and
set a path of incremental growth.
CSC’s Summer Season programming offers 20+ different camps for students ages 0-18 through one or two and four-week sessions, depending on age and discipline of study. The premiere program of the summer is the Musical Theatre Intensive (MTI) for high school students from throughout the region to take a deep dive into the musical theatre form. CSC’s Partner Programs provide arts immersion studies through significant partnerships to students who may otherwise not have access to the arts due to transportation, financial or disability barriers.
Funds would be utilized to cover the cost of program materials, equipment, instruments and instructor salaries/wages to provide high-quality arts education. Investing the funds in this way equates to investing in CSC students. Data has shown CSC’s programs lead to skill acquisition as well as growth of prosocial skills and protective factors and foster achievement of developmental milestones.
