Project Title: Mobile Veterinary Clinic & Outreach Program
Project Description:

Better Together aims to unite people and their beloved pets through equitable access to animal care information, veterinary services, community resources, and supplies. We meet the needs of low to moderate-income individuals who suffer from mental health or substance use disorders by preventing human trauma through advocacy work, pooling resources & information-sharing, pet-care workshops & seminars, and hosting on-site subsidized services via our Mobile Veterinary Clinic & Outreach program. As such, we will partner with the Community Mission of Niagara Frontier, Inc. and provide marginalized and underserved populations by being onsite up to four times in 2024 and serving people and pets with a low-cost, no-cost model.

In partnership with Community Missions, we will provide them with the following events & activities with financial contribution from The Hermanowski Foundation:
Mobile Veterinary Clinic will be on-site up to four times in 2024, serving 67 people/pets and offering low-cost vaccines, flea control, deworming, microchips, and pet ID tags.
Offer financial subsidies for those who are unable to pay for pet services.
Marketing of veterinary care specifically to pets of our service populations of children, adolescents, and young people affected by learning disabilities, mental health issues, and some individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Conduct at least two Pet Healthcare Sessions for children, adolescents, and young people affected by learning disabilities, mental health issues, and some individuals with intellectual disabilities. Attendees will learn animal care tips for their particular types of pets.
Offer a welcoming environment for those who wish to advance their skills as a veterinary receptionist or veterinary assistant as volunteers at the Mobile Veterinary Clinic to develop a pathway to employment in the veterinary field. This would be especially positive for the Community Missions’ workforce development program.
Continued documentation and evidentiary support that physical and mental health is positively impacted in individuals with various challenges.
