Project Title: Distance Education
Project Description:

As the largest restored gospel-based live and online home education program for K-12 students, Liahona takes its mission to help parents educate the youth of Zion seriously. Each year, hundreds of students across the globe take advantage of this inspiring program.

Distance Education allows students to study at their own pace at home, and with teacher involvement.

Classes are filmed daily at the Academy. Sessions may be watched live with interaction from the teacher or recorded and watched at the student’s convenience. Students in the classroom can also access the recorded lecture at any time. All classes are viewed online through a secure website and may be viewed as many times as desired while the student is enrolled in the class.

Liahona offers a fully accredited education track through Cognia (formerly AdvancEd), the largest accrediting agency in the country, and provides options for both daily school attendance and live classes from the comfort of home. The well-trained and motivated teachers strive to provide a classical academic base for every student, instilling in them the love of learning and inspiring patriotism. Parents decide which grade best suits their student’s age and skill level. Classes and homework are designed so that parents oversee all aspects of their student’s education. Liahona consists of an elementary school (preschool through fourth grade) and the Academy for grades five through twelve.

Liahona’s distance education program provides students around the world a sense of community, to strengthen and bless them wherever they live. Each year, Liahona sponsors youth conferences, trips, and prom, with many students in the distance education program participating. Students also connect through interactive social media and a secure yet connective texting system. Deep and lasting friendships are developed among students, and all share in the rich diversity of families from all around the world.
