Project Title: Champions For Learning Student Programs
Project Description:

Children from households with low incomes, and who have parents with low levels of formal education encounter barriers to graduating high school, enrolling in postsecondary education or job training, and completing college, making it likely that they will struggle to secure stable employment and attain financial security. Champions For Learning’s Student Programs are divided into two distinct but complementary spheres: ‘college and career access’ and ‘occupation-based learning and skill-building’ and are designed to equip and prepare students for their future learning and career goals. Eighty-nine percent of the students we serve come from households living at or below the national poverty line. Our Student Programs support students working towards high school graduation and postsecondary education or technical training, equipping them with the tools necessary for continued academic, career, and overall life success. Our Take Stock in Children program emphasizes mentoring to guide students towards successful completion of high school and enrollment in college. The College and Career Preparation Program prepares 11th and 12th grade students for their future learning and career goals post high school graduation. Through the Technical Pathways program, students receive guidance on how to navigate the academic, technical, and real-world knowledge, skills and experience they need to be prepared for a career. Collier County Public Schools’ High School Entrepreneurship Program offers project-based, authentic learning in a real-world environment. Champions For Learning recruits and trains volunteers, who work with students to develop the spirit of an entrepreneur.

Total Project Budget: $2,107,229
