Project Title: Nuesta Voz (Our Voice)
Project Description:
The Urban Warriors Multimedia Program is a transformative initiative dedicated to empowering youth aged 14-18 in Little Village, Chicago. With a focus on fostering creativity, digital literacy, and self-expression, this dynamic program offers participants a comprehensive curriculum encompassing editing, podcasting, photography, journalism, and videography.
At its core, the Urban Warriors Multimedia Program provides youth with a platform to share their stories, amplify their voices, and advocate for issues that matter to them. Through initiatives like our flagship podcast "La Carnita Asada," participants engage in all aspects of multimedia production, from editing and videography to hosting the show. Each episode serves as a testament to their talent and creativity, exploring topics relevant to their lives, their community, and their dreams for the future.
Looking ahead, Urban Warriors is poised to expand its impact with the launch of a journalism program in May 2024, pending funding. This program is designed to shine a spotlight on the hard work and resilience of immigrants, as well as the aspirations and contributions of the next generation. In collaboration with DePaul University, our biggest partner in this venture, participants will receive mentorship from industry professionals, gaining the skills and confidence needed to excel in multimedia journalism.
With a commitment to excellence and community engagement, the Urban Warriors Multimedia Program aims to nurture the talents of our participants and amplify their voices on a larger stage. Through creativity, collaboration, and storytelling, we empower youth to become agents of change, inspiring positive transformation in Little Village and beyond. With your support, The Charles and Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation, we can embark on this journey together of discovery, resilience, and storytelling excellence.
