Project Title: Haven Center Emergency Shelter in Lorain, Ohio
Project Description:

Convert the location at 1536 East 30th Street in Lorain Ohio into a three-floor homeless shelter and related emergency services:
Increase Haven Center capacity from 68 to 80 beds, 12 of which will be used for emergency (after hour) beds.
Increase the available beds for families from just 12 to 36, including the ability to house larger families together.
Create a secure, dedicated wing for families that feels like home, including a dedicated play area for children, a living room and kitchenette. This will also separate families from single adults.
Build/ renovate dorm rooms so each has its own bathroom and shower.
Reduce the number of persons per bedroom to comply with social distancing guidelines. Currently there can be up to seven (7) people sharing a dorm room.
Construct socially distant offices for mental health counselors to meet with clients and for clients to privately attend medical appointments via telehealth.
Expand the services for the unsheltered homeless: create a separate entrance for the PATH program will be created with a drop-in center so unsheltered individuals can get a hot shower, a meal, and supplies.
Expand services to provide retention and homelessness prevention services through an affiliation with the national organization, Family Promise.
Construct spaces for partner agencies to provide support and transition services for clients such as The Nord Center.
Upgraded this location to meet ADA compliant guidelines.
Currently clients who use a wheelchair cannot access all services, and in the shelter, he/she must eat separately from the rest of the group because of the stairs.
