Project Title: Cultural Exploration for Foster Care Youth
Project Description:
AMIkids operates two residential programs for kids in New Mexico who have nowhere else to go. Imagine a place where young individuals in foster care or those transitioning to adulthood can find the support and resources they need to thrive. That place is Albuquerque Transitional Living, a program designed to empower youth who have been involved with the New Mexico child welfare system. We believe that every young person deserves a chance to build a successful life, which is why we offer a range of services and opportunities to help them on their journey. From learning essential independent living skills to finding a safe and stable place to call home, we’re here to ensure every young person receives the help and guidance they need.
AMIkids Farmington is a residential treatment facility that’s been a sanctuary for young males aged 13-18. As a licensed residential treatment center, we’ve earned the trust of the New Mexico Children, Youth, and Families Department and partnered with esteemed organizations like Blue Cross Blue Shield, Presbyterian Health, and Western Sky Medicaid Managed Care Plans.
Both programs utilize the AMIkids Personal Growth Model – an evidence-based, research-driven approach that customizes dynamic programs and comprehensive services to each individual. From treatment and behavioral training to education and career readiness, we ensure that our kids are empowered to become successful adults. But what truly sets us apart is our commitment to a trauma-informed approach and culturally sensitive environment. With a dedicated multidisciplinary team, we address the unique needs of each young person, offering family-centered care, individualized treatment planning, and community engagement.
We seek funding to support the costs of our kids participating in cultural and experiential learning activities around New Mexico. This is crucial exposure that helps these underserved kids to broaden their horizons and envision opportunities for the future.
