Project Title: Scholarships for outdoor-based science education
Project Description:

Since 1994, Montana Outdoor Science School (MOSS) inspires curiosity, awareness, and understanding of nature and science through quality educational experiences. Our goal is to make MOSS’ unique and memorable programming to everyone, no matter background or means. The MOSS Scholarship Fund allows us to offer our educational outdoor camp experiences to students that would not otherwise be able to participate. The program awards either full or partial scholarships depending on the need and suggested income level of participants. MOSS’ goal is to make nature accessible to everyone and make everyone feel welcome in nature. Our programs create deep and meaningful connections to nature that last a lifetime and develop the next generation of stewards for the environment. Our funding request would allow for 10 students to participate in MOSS programs, including the Certified Master Naturalist program for adults and a variety youth educational summer camps with science-based themes such as Engineering in Nature, Powerful Predators, and Forged by Fire which teaches important fire ecology, botany and natural art.
