Project Title: Valley Pre-School Scholarship Program
Project Description:

The purpose of this grant is to both continue and expand our scholarship program. We want to be able to provide scholarships for low income families and to ensure that our organization is able to remain financially viable despite the changing economy. Despite lower enrollment and the financial toll the pandemic took on our organization, we are still proud to provide two 50% tuition scholarships to families in need who meet the income requirements decided by the town. While we would love to be able to provide more scholarships, we are not in the financial position to do so. This grant would allow us to offer more partial scholarships to families in need. We want to be able to encourage families of varying economic statuses to choose Valley Pre-School for their children and to continue providing a safe, engaging environment for our children to play and learn.

Unfortunately, low income families often are not given the opportunity to choose which type of early childhood education is best for their children. Often-times the subsidized/free daycare and public preschool options follow a traditional curriculum. While this might be a good option for many children, a family’s income should not dictate that choice for them. Play based learning is an important option for all families, regardless of income, and parents should be able to choose this for their children.

Play-based learning is at the core of Valley Pre-School’s curriculum. Through play, children learn how to independently problem-solve, share, regulate their emotions, and how to communicate effectively with their peers. By providing scholarships to low income families, we can give more children the opportunity to grow and learn through play. Families, regardless of their income level, deserve to make this decision for their children, and the children deserve to have this opportunity.
