Project Title: Operation School Bell
Project Description:

Mission: “Assistance League volunteers transform the lives of children through philanthropic community programs.” We strive to make sure essential needs are met in our community and families flourish.

We are seeking $10,000 support for our signature program, Operation School Bell (OSB), and the one where we positively impact the most youth. Last year we dressed 724 school-aged students and spent $93,500. Next year, our goal is to dress 800 students.
Twice a year, OSB provides new school-appropriate clothing to low-income, disadvantaged, at-risk children identified by school counselors and with parent/guardian permission. Elementary school students are measured by ALCP’s volunteers. Colors/Styles, Likes/Dislikes are discussed with each child. Then volunteers shop and return to the school with two sets of new jeans, and shirts, along with underwear/socks, a jacket/hoodie, and a pair of shoes. Middle and High school students shop one-on-one with a volunteer at pre-arranged times at local retailers with whom ALCP has developed relationships with.

Studies indicate that children who are appropriately attired interact better with their peers, have more self-confidence, and perform better academically.
