Project Title: From Policy to People
Project Description:

Within our target area we will work within the Rosemont of Oak Hollow Apartments and surrounding areas. We have served more than 2202 residents living in poverty. Our program has provided impactful alternatives and resources for the past 11 years. DCFI has been working with these families by offering food distribution, afterschool programs, seniors’ programs, and financial literacy on-site to include GED training and certificates, job placement, and STEM programs.

Our target population is comprised of 45 percent African Americans, 30 percent Latinos, and 20 percent Caucasians. Our organization operates with a diverse staff and board. We understand the importance of our staff and volunteers knowing cultural diversity and looking like the people we serve.

Our job training/job placement program includes a logistics model that includes training and validation through our network of partners. Our goal impact positions us as an organization that coordinates distribution of much needed training and available resources for a community. Community participants will have access to GED Certification, job training, and job placement. Organization Proximity is imperative for underserved/disadvantage communities. We are right there showing up for community needs, helping them to move forward in society with skills, job placement, better health, and better self-awareness of what they can do, and their importance in society.
