Project Title: Camp for All: Out door & Marine Education & Recreation for Underserved Youth in Los Angeles
Project Description:

The Children’s Lifesaving Foundation invites LAUSD students who come from very low-income neighborhoods (and, often experiencing actual homelessness-living in motels and vans near their elementary school) to a wonderful Camp for All summer camp program in Los Angeles each summer. Camp for All has been in operation since 1993. Over 650 underserved youth are served through Camp for All each summer. These young individuals belong to one of the most underserved populations in L.A., and Camp for All serves as a lifeline, offering an essential, enriching, outdoor educational experience most parents cannot afford to provide their families. This program truly addresses the critical need of providing an unparalleled opportunity for underserved youth in Los Angeles. It offers an escape from the confines of their urban environment, delivering fulfilling, innovatively educational, confidence-lifting, recreational, and highly memorable summer experiences.
Operating March through August each year, the CLF’s Camp for All Summer Camp Program has benefited over 75,000 Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), and underserved campers since its inception. The program encompasses Wilderness Day Camps in the picturesque Santa Monica Mountains, featuring classic camp activities intertwined with Chumash lessons and educational nature hikes. Additionally, our Surf Camps at Zuma Beach, led by Surf Therapists and pro surfers, instill a love and respect for the ocean, complemented by a robust and enjoyable marine educational component. Field trips to the Big Heart Ranch for animal therapy and the Malibu Lagoon for marine education and ocean conservation lessons round out this vital program.
Taking place across four stunning locations on the Malibu coast and in Calabasas, CA, our campers—all of whom attend free-of-charge—are immersed in a transformative experience. Our partner agencies are also invited to participate at no cost. The CLF’s Camp for All Summer Camp Program stands as a testament to our commitment to uplifting the lives of those who need it the most, providing a beacon of hope, education, and joy amidst challenging circumstances.
