Project Title: Career Success at Radford University
Project Description:
The JA Career Success at Radford Project provides an enriching educational experience for high school students interested in entrepreneurship, particularly those from rural communities in Southwest Virginia. Leveraging the Junior Achievement (JA) Connect Career and Work Readiness curriculum, this school-day-long field trip to Radford University offers workshops designed to equip students with essential skills and knowledge necessary to embark on their career journey or initiate their own business ventures. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to explore the Radford University campus, enhancing their understanding of higher education opportunities.
The primary objective of JA Career Success at Radford is to inspire and prepare students from rural communities for future career pathways in entrepreneurship, whatever their passion may be. Now in it’s second year, this project bridges the opportunity gap many rural students face by providing them with initital exposure to an institution of higher education.
We are seeking a grant of $8,000 to support the continuation of this popular program in the 2024-2025 year. This funding will cover essential expenses including transportation costs for students from rural communities in Southwest Virginia to Radford University, workshop materials, cafeteria/lunch costs, and administrative expenses.
With the support of this grant, we anticipate reaching 200 high school students from rural communities in Southwest Virginia. Through hands-on workshops and campus tours, students will continue to gain valuable insights into entrepreneurship and career readiness, as well as the opportunity to make connections at Radford University. By investing in this project, you will not only be empowering young minds with practical skills but also breaking down barriers to higher education and fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within underserved communities.
Your investment in this initiative will have a lasting impact on the lives of students, providing them with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in the workforce and contribute to the economic prosperity of their communities. We sincerely hope you will consider supporting our endeavor with a grant of $8,000. Thank you for your consideration.
