Project Title: Creative Kinshipcare Program
Project Description:
Our Creative Kinship-Care Program will build upon the success of our existing Kinship/Grandfamilies program, currently serving 30 families through a three-year partnership with the William Penn Foundation. This new initiative aims to empower children aged 4 to 21 by integrating structured and enriching arts programming into our existing welfare and educational services.
Addressing a Critical Need:
While we currently offer informal drawing opportunities, we lack a dedicated arts program, leaving a gap in the services we provide. This funding opportunity would enable us to develop a comprehensive program featuring art, dance, music, and trauma-informed care, specifically tailored to the needs of children facing challenging situations like parental loss due to gun violence, illness, or incarceration.
Impact and Research-Based Approach:
Research indicates that engaging in the arts can be therapeutic, promoting coping skills, emotional expression, and overall well-being. This resonates deeply with our mission, as we believe arts integration can significantly benefit the children we serve.
Building on Existing Success:
Our existing Kinship/Grandfamilies program serves as a strong foundation for this initiative. We have established trust and rapport with families, allowing us to seamlessly integrate the new arts program. Additionally, our experience in providing welfare and educational services ensures a holistic approach that addresses the children’s diverse needs.
Collaboration and Future Plans:
We are eager to partner with your foundation to make this vision a reality. We are open to collaborating with relevant arts organizations and experts to develop the most impactful program possible. We are confident that the Creative Kinship-Care Program will have a lasting positive impact on the lives of these vulnerable children.
We welcome the opportunity to discuss our program in further detail and explore how your support can help us achieve this goal. Thank you for your time and consideration.
