Project Title: Survival Program
Project Description:

Studies have shown that the main reason youth delinquency exists is due to a lack of after-school activities/programs, mentors, and role models. Data recorded shows how imperative it is to mentor the youth and guide them on how to build a sense of citizenship and respect for the communities in which they reside. We desire to be the change agent that helps in reducing risky behaviors in youth, such as youth violence, dropouts, and drug/alcohol use. We strive to guide, equip, and empower our youth by ways of development, leadership, and engagement. This program allows students to gain valuable life skills which in turn, helps them make better informed decisions post-graduation.

Our Survival Program is a collective of modules that bond our milestones. These include; career development, health and wellness, financial literacy, home living and survival readiness. Within our Career Development class, one will build a resume to lead them into a career and preparation for job interviews. They will have an understanding of common softwares along with tools to help their future career advancement. The Health and Wellness class will allow our youth to acquire knowledge on how to take care of their mind, body, and soul with guidance on the importance of regular checkups and understanding their body. Our Financial Literacy class covers money management techniques, preparations for future savings, taxes, credit importance, insurance, and retirement funds. In our Home Living class, our youth will learn what goes into home upkeep inside and outside of their living space and understand basic renter rights and home ownership. Our Survival Readiness allows our youth to learn how to prepare themselves for what comes after high school graduation. We cover instances for those planning on the college route and for those planning on jumping into the workforce.
